Administration presidential candidate Gilberto "Gibo" Teodoro slammed the mass media for putting too much weight on surveys. Teodoro was in Negros Occidental last April 8-9, 2010 for a campaiugn sortie.
Surveys have consistently given Teodoro a low rating but he cites the massive support he got from the people.
According to Teodoro, "Surveys should be thrown to the trash cans." "Sad to say, it is not surveys that will make you win but the support of the people and the support of the local leaders," he added.
Also in the campaign sorties were teodoro's running mate actor Edu manzano and 6 Lakas-Kampi-CMD senatorial candidates.
Local officials who joined Teodoro included Gov. Isidro Zayco, Bacolod Cong. Monico O. Puentebella, and Negros Occidental Rep. Ignacio "Iggy" Arroyo.
Teodoro distinguished himself from other candidates by the absence of mudslinging. He said, "We don't need to put down others to uplift ourselves."
Teodoro visited Bacolod City, Escalante City, and San Carlos City among others. Re-electionist Mayor Jose "Oti" Montelibano of Silay City and Mayor escalante Yap Jr. of Escalante City, and Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. of Cadiz City, were among the Negros Occidental mayors who supports Teodoro. About 15 of 32 mayors are Lakas-Kampi-CMD members.
