Yellow Prayer Power This Sunday By: James U. Sy Jr.
Kris Aquino was warmly welcomed by Negrosanons.
Noynoy Aquino-Mar Roxas volunteers will be holding the Yellow Prayer Power: Holy Mass and Ecumenical Prayer for Peaceful Change this coming April 11, 2010, 5:00 PM, at the NoyMar headquarters, Lopue's Annex Bldg., Mandalagan, Bacolod City.
The said mass will be the first of four masses scheduled for consecutive Sundays leading to the May elections. The other masses will be held on April 18 and 25 and May 2, all of them at 5:00 PM and at the same venue.
"We join the call for not only for a clean elections but also a smooth political transition thereafter," said Christine Abaquin, Chairperson of the
Yellow Prayer Power.
She added, "We believe that this would be an opportune time for everyone to solmenly gather and together pray for divine assistance for a peaceful change."
There will also be a Yellow Bazaar & Food Fair from 4:00 PM onwards where NoyMar yellow merchandise and local dishes from Felicia's, Mushu, and Pendy's will be on sale.
Kris Aquino-Yap led a 2-day campaign sorties in Negros Occidental for the presidential bid of his brother, Liberal Party standard bearer Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and his running-mate, Sen. Mar Roxas. The campaign sortie drew an estimated total crowd of 63,000 in 14 municipalities and cities of the province.
“Thank you for making me feel that Negros Occidental is yellow. Negros is really a Noy-Mar country. Palangga ko kayong lahat," Kris said to the Negrosanons.
Lisa Cojuangco-Cruz, the cousin of Kris and the youngest daughter of Ambassador Eduardo Cojuangco, Jr., joined the actress in her campaign in the south, where most of the Cojuangco farms are located. Veana Fores, Roxas’ cousin, joined the second day of the campaign sortie. Together with Kris was her two sons, Joshua and baby James.
The municipalities and cities included in the campaign sorties (and the estimated turnout) were Bacolod City (15,000), Bago City (2,000), Binalbagan (7,000), Cadiz City (10,000), E.B. Magalona (2,000), Himamaylan City (2,000), Hinigaran (5,000), Kabankalan City (4,000), La Carlota City (2,000), Manapla (1,500), Pontevedra (1,000), Silay City (4,000), Talisay City (3,000), and Victorias City (5,000).
There are currently 56 NoyMar volunteer centers in the 32 municipalities and cities in Negros Occidental.
