Tribe W.A.R. IV Huge Success By: James U. Sy Jr.

The Tribe W.A.R. (Warrior’s Art Rumble) IV was successfully held by the Tribu Hangaway (TH) of Founder/Master Roy R. Flores Sr., 6th Degree Black Belt Tapondo, in cooperation with Aksyon Radyo-Bacolod under its Station Manager JJ Deocampo and the Tapondo International Federation Inc. (TIFI)-Bacolod) and under the sanction of the Intercontinental Federation of Filipino Martial Arts Schools (IFFMAS) led by its President Grandmaster Elmer V. Montoyo, 8th Degree Black Belt Filipino Tang Soo Do, last June 6, 2009 at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center, Bacolod City.

30 fighters from Bacolod, San Carlos, Talisay, and Victorias Cities competed in a total of 15 bouts - 6 for Grappling (Tribe WAR rules) and 9 for Muay Thai (Muay Association of the Philippines rules).

GRAPPLING. Submission Sports Philippines (SSP)-Bacolod Team of Coach Jek-Jek Ferrer was champion winning 4 of 6 bouts fought, followed by Affinity Bacolod of Coach Chester Laquian and host Tribu Hangaway of Master Roy R. Flores.

Maun of Bacolod Aikido Enthusiasts (BAE), Chief Instructor Ronilo “Nonoy” magbanua of Supreme Modern Combat (SMC), and Coach Chester Laquian of Affinity Bacolod (Referees), Adrian Gillana of Submission Sports Philippines (SSP)-Bacolod Team and Russell Mohametano Sensei of Mussubi Ki Aikido Association (Judges), and Dr. Leonio “Nilo” del Carmen and Dr. Leonard Baraquia of Musubi Ki Aikido Association (Physicians).

Tribu Hangaway (TH) is a sister organization of Tapondo International Federation Inc.-Bacolod/Negros (TIFI-Bacolod/Negros) founded by Founder/Master Roy R. Flores Sr. as the Warriors Club in 2003 in Bacolod City where he taught arts other than Tapondo. Arts taught in TH include Wushu Sanshou, Kickboxing, Grappling, and Hangaway Arnis.
