Tribe War a Success By: James U. Sy Jr.

Tribe W.A.R. (Warriors’ Art Rumble) V was held successfully by Tribu Hangaway Philippines of Founder/Master Roy R. Flores Sr., 6th Degree Black Belt, in cooperation with the Tapondo International Federation Inc. (TIFI)-Bacolod Chapter and the Intercontinental Federation of Filipino Martial Arts Schools (IFFMAS) last October 17, 2009, at the Function Room (in front of Cinema 4), Gaisano Bacolod Supermall, Arantea St., Brgy. Singcang, Bacolod City.

Overall champion was Tribu Hangaway Philippines of Founder/Master Roy R. Flores Sr. with a 3-4 win-loss streak. 2nd to 4th places were Affinity of Coach Chester Laquian (3-3), Submission Sports Philippines (SSP)-Bacolod Team under Adrian Hillana (3-0), and Tumbatsu Strikes and Submissions (Iloilo City) of Club Head Gilton Solis (1-2).

RESULTS: John Lacson of Affinity, 115 lbs., over Obrienne Vidal of TH, 105 lbs. Luigino Lacson of Affinity, 125 lbs., over Jasper Vidad of TH. Arnel Baldelovar of Tumbatsu over Inno Espende of TH. Alan Mario Facturan of TH, 130 lbs., over Robert Canlas of Affinity, 125 lbs. (Men’s gi). Nikki Dionela of TH, 120 lbs., over Solidad Alcuizar of Affinity, 110 lbs. (Women’s gi). Michael Regalado of SSP-BT, 155 lbs., over Archie Doroteo of Tumbatsu, 155 lbs., via tapout at 1:32 of the 1st round with an armbar. Rameses Aloro of SSP-BT, 128 lbs., over Gilton solis of Tumbatsu, 127 lbs., via tapout at 4:41 of the 1st round with armbar. Jojo Casilao of Affinity over Edmund Acosilo of TH. Richard Dulaca of TH over Gino Ledesma of Affinity (Men’s gi). Adrian Hillana of SSP-BT, 170 lbs., over Pierre Ponce of Tumbatsu, 160 lbs., via tapout at 1:40 of the 1st round with triangle choke.

DEMONSTRATIONS: Tapondo International Federation Inc. (TIFI)-Bacolod Chapter led by Mr. Jerry de la Cruz showed self defense techniques against various street attacks. Master Ricardo P. Filipinas, Founder of Sacred Ki Art of Filipino Foot Fighting, performed two Karate kata from Shuri-te and Goju-ryu. Founders/Masters James U. Sy Jr. and Narciso “Hansy” L. Alojado of Conceptual Martial arts society (CMAS), Inc. demonstrated CMAS seated self defense techniques against the knife.

Tribe W.A.R. has been conceptualized by Master Flores for all those who wants to compete but are tentative in entering Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) events. The rules being used is an eclectic blend of established grappling competition rules.
