6th CASAP-Bacolod Founding Anniversary Celebrated by: James U. Sy Jr.
The 6th Founding Anniversary of the College of Arts & Sciences of Asia and the Pacific (CASAP)-Bacolod Campus with the theme “Strengthening and Fostering the Pillars of CASAP” was celebrated on December 19-20, 2016 at the District Ayala North Point, Talisay City.
The festivities were attended by the about 1,500 college, senior high, and integrated school students, the 42 full time college and senior high school instructors, staff, and school officials.
School Director Jun C. Montaño, MPA, and College Dean Maximo F. Torrento Jr. led the opening and proceedings of the celebration. Elyn Mae P. Papa, MBA, Senior High Head, gave the welcome address at the start of the event.
CASAP was founded and launched by Hon. former Marikina City Mayor Ma. Lourdes C. Fernando on November 16, 2010 although it formally opened its doors on June 13, 2011 with three start up campuses in Marcos Highway Santolan, Pasig City, Taytay, Rizal, and Bacolod City.
The mission of the college is to conserve and relate “technical and practical knowledge in varied areas of study and will provide students a multitude of competencies in readiness for the global trade and commerce.”
CASAP top brass are Hon. Ma. Lourdes C. Fernando (Chairman & President), Arnold A. Pediongco, MBA, Ed.D. (Managing Director), and Rossana A. Buzeta, MBA (Vice President).
Organizing and presenting the activities were College Society Advisers Donna T. Bugador, Alex Uberas, Shane M. Oñate, James U. Sy Jr., Rose Jean S. Espelita, Ara Patricia H. Cordova, Stephen Steve Descutido, Mark Margallo, and CASAP College Faculty Club President Christian Jay Pielago together with the SHS Faculty Club and its President Devi Uy.
In full support to the successful holding of the celebration were the CASAP Student Council (CSC) under the leadership of President Nalra Rose B. Guinabo, Business Society under its President Mary Grace Curativo, HRS & Culinary Society under its President Kenny Rose Prado, Tourism Society under its President Patricia Bernales, ICT Republic under its President Ray Emmanuel Legaspi, SHS-ICT Group, SHS-Academic Group, SHS-Home Economics Group, Integrated School Department under Principal Ivy Rose G. Alinsunorin, MAED, Dunamis Praise World Conquest, SHS Dance Troupe, CASAP Anime Club under Adviser Franz Aira Sycayco, CASAP Models, and CASAP Chorale.
Sponsors were Super Metro Gaisano, District Ayala North Point, Coca Cola Bottlers Philippines, Greenwich, Po’s Marketing Gasul, Pongs Photography, Easy Rock, Love Radio, and A.O. Miranda Builders.
Various competitions and presentations were given during the 6th Founding Anniversary of the College of Arts & Sciences of Asia and the Pacific (CASAP)-Bacolod Campus with the theme “Strengthening and Fostering the Pillars of CASAP” on December 19-20, 2016 at the Ayala District North Point, Talisay City.
Among the events during the celebration were the Quiz Bee, Spelling Bee, Mr. & Ms. Foundation Day 2016, Anime (Cosplay) Competition, 3rd Master Chef Competition, thanksgiving mass, motorcade, faculty and staff presentation, presentation of academic awards, and vocal solo, duet, K-Pop, and hip hop competitions.
The Business Society, represented by Juvia Caceres, Lady Lee Alintana, and Joiza Mae Rotas, took the win in the 3rd Master Chef Competition with their Siomai de Mong. Business Society also took the win in the vocal duet event with a total average score of 90.33%, followed by HRS and Tourism with 89% and 83.67% respectively. The Tourism Society, however, took the vocal solo plum with total average score of 94%, followed by ICT and HE with 93.67% and 91% respectively.
The Tourism Society was a real winner as its representative, Rubylyn P. Tapi-on of BSTM 2, took the 2016 Ms.Foundation crown as well as harvesting the awards for Ms. Photogenic, Best in Talent, Best in Jeans Wear, and Best in Interview with an overall score of 96.33%.
Extending its winning streak, Tourism Society also took the championship for the Anime Cosplay Competition, with its contestant, Love Joy Geralda of DTTM 2A, cosplaying as Megumi Tachibana, garnering a total average score of 95.67%, besting the the 91.33% and the 89.33% of Rea Marie Maambong of SHS-ADBM (character: Rury Mercury) and Mary Jane Bancruz of SHS-GAS respectively.
The Basic Ed took the championship in the K-Pop Competition with a 95% total average score, followed by SHS-ICT (92%) and Tourism (86.67%).
ICT’s Spencer J. Panaongan took the title at the Quiz Bee Competition, with a score of 20. 1st and 2nd runner ups were Jun Ray Canje of HRS and Dominic Ponce of HE respectively.
