The College of Arts & Sciences of Asia & the Pacific (CASAP)-Bacolod Campus officially started classes for the its college, senior and junior high school, competency based training and short term courses, elementary, and basic education programs last July 25, 2016, being one of the few educational institutions in Bacolod and Negros Occidental to shift to the international school calendar. At least 70% of universities worldwide start their school year in August, September, or October. Among members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Philippines is the only one still beginning its academic year in June, until the top universities in the country pioneered the shift starting in 2014. The need to shift was strongly influenced by the full ASEAN Integration in 2015 and the trend of globalization in the industry. CASAP, founded by former Marikina City Mayor Ma. Lourdes C. Fernando in 2010, had also adopted the shift in the academic calendar to August to July, instead of the original June to May, to jive with its mission, which is “to produce competitive individuals who will respond to the demands of the industry.” CASAP-Bacolod Campus , under the leadership of School Director Jun Montaño, MPA, and College Dean Maximo Torrento Jr., MBA, offers Bachelor’s degree course in Accounting technology, Public Management, Computer Science, Information Science, and Tourism Management as well as diploma course in Business Management, Computer Science, Computer Technology, Hotel and Restaurant Services, and Travel and Tours Management. CASAP has 4 campuses - in Pasig City, Taytay, Rizal, Bacolod City, and Rodriguez, Rizal - and is recognized by the Technical Education & Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and the Department of Education (DepEd). CASAP-Bacolod Campus is located at G/F Milagros Bldg., Cor. Rosario-Gatuslao Sts, Bacolod City with its newly constructed senior high facility at Brgy. 16 Blvd.
