DUMAGUETE ARNISADORS TO JOIN WORLD ARNIS TILT

The Dumaguete Arnis Association (DUMAA) of Master Ike Xavier S. Villaflores will be seeing action in the "Quest for the Best" on January 26, 2008 at SM City-Cebu. "Quest for the Best" is a qualifying event of the upcoming 10th World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (WEKAF) Championships set this July 22-25, 2008 at the SM City-Cebu Trade Hall, Cebu City .

DUMAA had previously produced four champions during the 8th WEKAF World Championship, namely James Clark G. Rocaberte, Rosben Cimafranca, Jojie Pasagdan and Ma. Kotska Fleischer.

Selection for the Dumaguete Arnis Team is still ongoing at the DUMMA Main Gym, Meciano Road , Dumaguete City .

The WEKAF World Championships is a biennial event organized by Cebu’s world-renowned Doce Pares International of Atty. Grandmaster Dionisio
"Dionnie" Cañete. According to WEKAF Executive Director Gerald O. Cañete, 27 countries are set to take part in the 3-day tournament.

Expected to attend the tournament are Senator Juan Miguel Zubirri and Philippine action star Ronnie Rickets, who are both Eskrimadors themselves.

To serve as tune up for the World Championships is the World FMA (Filipino Martial Arts) Cup slated on July 19-20, 2008 at the Moalboal Sports Complex. The World FMA Cup is organized by Doce Pares International of Atty. Grandmaster Dionisio
"Dionnie" Cañete in partnership with Senkotiros International of Grandmaster Max Pallen. GM Pallen owns a huge training facility in Moalboal for Senkotiros followers and aspiring martial artists in the southernmost part of Cebu Province . The headquarters of Senkotiros International is in San Leandro , California .

The WEKAF World Congress is also set on July 22, 2008.

The US Nationals, the American qualifying event for the WEKAF World Championships, is scheduled for February 28, 2008 at the Walnut Mt. in San Antonio College . Winners will represent the USA in the championships.
