2007 X’MAS BULIG SA KUBOS A SUCCESS

It has always been said that the martial arts are more than just for fighting, that they are a medium to promote harmony and peace among mankind. The 2007 Christmas Bulig sa Kubos is a good example of such assertion.

Prk. Bulak President and Black Falcon Martial Arts Association-Main (BFMAA-Main) Chief Instructor Joery C. Amante, with the support of Conceptual martial arts Society (CMAS), Inc. of Foudners James U. Sy Jr. and Narciso “Hansy” L. Alojado and the project sponsors, successfully held the 2007 Christmas Bulig sa Kubos (Assitance to the Needy) last December 23, 2007 at the Amante Residence, Prk. Bulak, Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

Amante started the program in 2002 and organizes it twice a year, one for the School Opening and another during Christmas. The purpose is to assist financially handicapped residents of Prk. Bulak in the school supply needs of their children during the School Openings and to share the spirit and joy of Christmas during the Yuletide Season with gift packs and other give aways.

This year’s gift packs consisted of 1 kilo rice, some canned goods, noodles, old clothes, and infant garments. Not less than 54 recipients from Prk. Bulak and Prk. Sambag available of the gift packs. Games were also held for children and adults alike with cash, toys, and other prizes. The most exciting part was the paagaw of candies and coins. Aside from the 54 recipients, many other residents were in attendance and had joined the paagaw.

Recipients of the gift packs from Prk. Bulak were were Neneng Alegre, Piokok Añerdes, Gilda Arciaga, Dory Benijol, Bernardita Bito-on, Neneng Cabaleda, Yolly Cabaleda, Norma Calderon, Josefa Calderon, Gemma Canillo, Yolando Canillo, Jackelyn Conserman, Adela Corugda, Esperanza Cueva, Allan Dajao, Kenneth de la Cruz, Analyn Dionela, Sherlita Escoro, Aming Galang, Rex Galang, Melodina Jacob, Edwin Jamili, Jonalyn Jimenez, Ging-Ging Lentisa, Noemi Luberisco, Liza Lumontad, Erlita Mahinay, Marcelina Manapsal, Epraem Manlapao, Vicenti Obas, Nonoy Pabillo, Bobong Padasay, Bombie Padasay, Carmilita Pehid, Edith Pehid, Ralyn Pehid, Jean Peñas, Efren Romero, Mary Joy Santillan, Silay Soldevilla, Chosen Sy, Louella Tahan, Resurection Toledo, Nimfa Torrecampo, Marites Urbano, Archila Villahermosa, Rodolfo Villan, and Rosemarie Zulueta.

Recipients from Prk. Sambag were Rosemarie Amante, Teresita Amante, Belinda Casuyon, Romeo Casuyon, Lourdes Guanzon, and Adelina Otero.

Assisting Amante were his wife, Analyn, and his son Janry, a Wushu Sanshou, Sipa Sumbag, Mixed Martial Arts, and Western Boxing champion and medallist. Major sponsors were Foudners James U. Sy Jr. and Narciso “Hansy” L. Alojado of CMAS, Mary Salve “Jing-Jing” L. Pe and Cristita “Tata” P. Lim of Iloilo City, Chpater Head Lafayette A. Diamante and Lorema “Bing” H. Tacsagon of CMAS, AND Dana Lou Aguilar of BSP.

Other sponsors were Mrs. Tess Golez and Mrs. Socorro Famimialagao of the university of St. La Salle (USLS), Sherwin Nuñesco, Andres Villarmia, Jorandi Daguman, Climaco Lumanog, and Joselito Bianan of BFMAA-Main.

The civic service activity was organized under the banner of the Intercontinental Federation of Filipino Martial Arts Schools (IFFMAS) undert the leadership of President Master Elmer V. Montoyo, 6th degree black belt, who is also the Founder of the Philippine Integrated Martial Arts Academy-Filipino Tang Soo Do Association (PIMAA-FTSDA).

The next Bulig sa Kubos will be in June 2008.
