SACA JUFIMAC TO ADOPT MUAY THAI

The San Carlos Jungle Fighters Martial Arts Club (SACA JUFIMAC) under Founder/Chief Instructor Diomedes N. Mamugay Sensei will soon be adopting Muay Thai into its curriculum. This came about after Mamugay Sensei attended the 2nd Negros Occidental M.A.P. Muay Boran Instructors Course “Muay Judges and Referee Course” last February 18-19, 2006 at the Philippine Integrated Martial Arts Academy-Filipino Tang Soo Do Association (PIMAA-FTSDA) Gym, Group K Complex, Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City.

The seminar was sponsored by the Conceptual Martial Arts Society (CMAS) of Muay Association of the Philippines-Negros Occidental Chapter Coordinator James U. Sy Jr. and Vice Coordinator Narciso “Hansy” L. Alojado and PIMAA-FTSDA of MAP Negros Occidental Chapter Chairman Master Elmer V. Montoyo to train and certify regional level judges and referees for MAP-Visayas.

Muay Association of the Philippines Visayas and Region 7 Head Ike Xavier Villaflores of Dumaguete City conducted the seminar, which attracted 20 attendees. Kru Villaflores is set to issue the certificates to instructors who attended. The certificate will serve as their license as regional level officials for Muay Thai competitions. Mamugay Sensei is one of these instructors.

Plans have been laid for the conduct of a Basic Muay Boran (Traditional Thai Boxing) by Kru Villaflores in San Carlos sometime in May 2005.

Mamugay Sensei is also affiliated with the Wushu Federation of the Philippines-Negros Occidental under Coordinator Joery C. Amante and serves as the group’s Vice President for North Negros. He was instrumental in introducing wushu sanshou in San Carlos City when he hosted the 1st San Carlos City Kickboxing and Wushu Sanshou Interclub Tournament last March 11, 2005 at the San Carlos City Auditorium.

Officers for SACA JUFIMAC are Mamugay Sensei (president), Johnmar P. Palabrica (VP), Estrelita M. Sabijon (secretary), Rosalie N.
