FRANCO SHIHAN VISITS BACOLOD ANEW

Ramon S. Franco Shihan of Tacloban City, 6th dan black belt PKF, arrived in Bacolod on January 19, 2006 and conducted a third All A.S.K. Upgrading training on Kumite and Kata and Kyu Ranks Examination under the auspices of the Advocacy for the Strengthening of Karate-do (A.S.K.) on the 21st to the 22nd at the 2F Boston Finance Bldg., 6th St., Bacolod City. Host was A.S.K.-Bacolod Head Instructor Edilberto “Bert” A. Arcositas Sensei, Founder/Chief Instructor of Bertar Karate Kan.

Franco Shihan is the Chairman of the National Referee Council of the Philippine Karate-do Federation (PKF) and is founder/president of the Advocacy for the Strengthening of Karate-do (A.S.K.).

Those who took the exams were Chomin Aberasturri, Antonio Apurado, Ana Bañas, Helen Cañete, Nonoy Cañete, Maryver Cordova, Marinell Gerochi, John David and Michael Robin Lizares, Sam Macaldo, John Paul Martinez, Dominique Mijares, Charity Salario, Marianne Sioson, Stephanie Uberas, and Marson Yu. The last kyu rank promotional exams were held last November 2005

The training was in preparation for the 19th PKF National Open Championships in May 2006 in Tagum, Davao.

Bertar Karate Kan is the official representative of the Advocacy for the Strengthening of Karate-do (A.S.K.) in Bacolod City and is a registered member of the Philippine Karate-do Federation (PKF).
