The combined contingent of the Guarra Style Modern Arnis and Self Defense Association (GSMASDA) of Ret. P/Sgt. Grandmaster Estanislao “Eslao” T. Guarra and Arjuka-Malingin of Grandmaster Isaac “Saac” T. Guarra carted away the championship in the exhibition category of the Invitational Arnis Eskrima Tournament last October 16, 2005 at the Bacolod Arts and Youth (BAY) Center, San Juan St., Bacolod City.
The event was held by the Bacolod Negros Arnis Federation International Inc. (BNAFII) of Grandmaster Hortencio M. Navales in cooperation with the Office of Youth and Sport development (OYSD) as part of Bacolod City’s 26th Masskara Festival Celebration.
The GSMASDA/Arjuka demo team included the GM brothers, Mar June A. Guanga, Jetter G. Guarra, Jonar D. Guarra, Mark Jerson F. Guarra, John rey C. montes, Richie c. Trayco, and Rodolfo F. Vilohez. The GSMASDA/Arjuka demo team performed punta y punta, sulab y sulab, espada y daga, modernist disarming, arnis-judo-karate combination fighting, and various types of weapons.
GM Guarra is currently holding arnis classes for children and teenagers every Sunday morning at his residence in Brgy. Lag-asan, Bago City. Interested parties may contact the grandmaster at 0910-2853521 or 0918-7039291.
